Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, per ReadyHarris. After Hurricane Beryl in July 2024, the Texas A&M Forest Service estimated about half of Houston-area urban trees were potentially affected, Houston Landing reported. A crown thinned of dead and crossing limbs before summer gives wind less to grab. In heavily wooded sections like Windrose and Auburn Lakes, a few dead limbs high in one pine can land on a roof two lots over.
