Tree removal in Tomball, TX is handled by Sticks Tree Service, Trey Lamar’s crew working out of Cypress. Inside Tomball city limits a protected tree needs a city removal permit before it comes down, so the crew looks at the tree, the lot and the paperwork together. Call 281-373-1472 to set up a look at the tree.
Do you offer tree removal in Tomball, TX?
Yes. Sticks Tree Service removes dead, storm-broken, leaning and unwanted trees on Tomball homes and business lots. The crew drives north from the office at 14120 Cypress North Houston Rd in Cypress. A removal covers the cutting, the chipping and the haul-off; stump grinding is its own line.
Tomball has its own tree permit
Tomball adopted its first tree preservation ordinance on January 6, 2025. Community Impact reported that it protects 44 tree types and allows fines of up to $2,000 per day of violation. The city’s Tree Preservation page says a removal permit is required for any protected tree in the City of Tomball, on residential and commercial property alike.
The replacement rule is inch for inch. Each inch of diameter taken out of a protected tree is replaced with one caliper inch of new trees. Every replacement tree has to be at least four caliper inches and has to come from the Tomball Tree List, which includes bald cypress, live oak, pecan, red maple, Texas red oak and white oak. Mitigation is capped at 100 caliper inches per acre. Permits go through Community Development at 501 James St. or Building@tomballtx.gov.
A Tomball mailing address and Tomball city limits are not always the same thing, so the first question is whether the lot sits inside the city. Community Development can answer that. Tomball-area subdivisions include Lakewood Forest, Northpointe Forest and Timberlake Village; where a lot is deed-restricted, the HOA may want its own approval before a tree comes out.

How a Tomball removal goes
- A look at the tree. Trey’s crew measures the trunk and notes the species, the two numbers the permit turns on.
- Permit check. If the lot is in city limits and the tree is a protected type, the owner applies through Community Development before any cutting is booked.
- Plan the fall. With open ground, it comes down in fewer pieces. Next to a house, shop or fence it is cut in sections and lowered by rope.
- Cleanup. Brush is chipped and the wood is hauled off, or cut to length and stacked if the owner wants firewood.
- Ready for the replacement. If the city requires new trees, the stump spot can be ground out so a four-inch caliper tree has room.
What goes into the quote?
Every Tomball removal is quoted after a look, based on the height and trunk size, the species and how much of the crown is already dead, what sits underneath (roof, power drop, pool, fence), how the truck and chipper reach the tree, and whether the wood stays or goes. Stump grinding is listed separately.
